Steven’s SeaWheeze Preparation

Steven is a professional in all sense of the phrase. He’s a member of the accounting department here at Whistler Water, a 23-year-old recent graduate of the Business and Commerce program at the University of Victoria, and a North Vancouver local. Steven began working his way up the Whistler Water ranks some time ago, and we’re proud and pleased that he’s still part of our team.
Steven is a natural athlete and grew up participating in an array of active sports. Like many of us, before entering the professional world, time constraints were an after-thought. As his responsibilities and commitments increased, he soon realized that leading the active lifestyle he had grown accustomed to was going to be a little more challenging.
Growing up as an avid athlete I never had to think about trying to fit in exercise. There never seemed to be enough hours in the day to get from one practice or game to another. But as we I got older I found myself cutting back on the number of organized activities that I took part in. Thus came the challenge of trying to motivate myself to simply get out and exercise for the sake of exercising. It doesn’t sound that hard, just get out and run or go to the gym a few days a week, but when it was a choice between that or relaxing during a Canucks game, the Canucks usually won me over…seemed like last year that’s all they were winning.
Steven signed up for SeaWheeze as a means to keep him focused and motivated on living an active lifestyle and has found that the extra push is exactly what he’s needed to add to his busy schedule.
Signing up for Seawheeze has given me a goal to work towards and motivates me on each and every run I take. As an inherently competitive person simply running for exercise was never very satisfying. With a half marathon in the near future I not only have a reason to get out and run more consistently, but also to push through the last few kilometers of each and every one of my personal runs. I am excited to be representing Whistler Water and looking forward to taking part in the third year of this extraordinary event!
