With the Vancouver Wine Festival just around the corner, Whistler Water is gearing up once again to be the Official Water of this year’s event…and it’s safe to say that we’re pretty darn excited.
For those unfamiliar with this incredible annual tradition, the festival is renowned as Canada’s premier food and wine event, attracting some of the biggest international names in the business. Widely acknowledged to be one of the biggest, best and most established wine events on the globe, this year’s festival features wine tastings and pairings, gourmet dinners and lunches, educational seminars and culinary competitions and much, much more.
Featuring Australia as this year’s theme country complemented by a global focus on Syrah, this year’s festival looks to be one of the best yet.
If you didn’t know, Australia boasts over 64 designated wine regions distributed in Mediterranean, maritime and continental climates and their variety of wines reflect these outstanding conditions.
One of the top 10 most grown grapes, Syrah can be found throughout the wine world, from the Rhône Valley to the Barossa Valley to the Okanagan Valley. In Australia, where the grape was introduced in 1832 and is commonly called Shiraz, Syrah is popular as a varietal, a sparkling wine, in a blend with Cabernet Sauvignon, or even co-fermented with some Viognier.
Of course, while we certainly enjoy our chance to sample some of the tantalizing offerings, Whistler Water is here to hydrate: don’t forget, the festival is a marathon, not a sprint!
In addition to supplying water to all vendors during this year’s event, we’ll be on location in our Whistler Water Glacier Lounge to hand out water to thirsty festival attendees. If you’re planning to attend, be sure to stop by to say hello and sample some Whistler Water as you get ready to experience some of the 53 amazing events taking place over the eight-day festival slated for Friday, February 20th to Sunday, March 1st.
